Oddest Pub Of The Season PresentationOn Thursday 21st April, Trafford & Hulme branch descended on Chorlton's Oddest to present the Pub Of The Season Award for Spring 2011. It truly was Spring as sunshine spread across Chorlton on the eve of Good Friday, bringing out the locals to fill the bar and it's outside seating area to capacity.

Local MP John Leech was in attendance, along with local councillor Paul Ankers. Oddest is actually John Leech's local pub when at his Chorlton home, and he revealed that he's actually celebrated his 39th birthday at Oddest with friends.

Briton’s Protection Celebrating 200 Years as a pub

The Briton's Protection frontageThe Britons Protection on Great Bridgewater Street in the City Centre is one of a handful of city centre pubs that is listed on the CAMRA National Inventory of Historic Pubs.  In June this year the building will have been there as a pub for 200 years and the current owner will have been there for thirty years.  This calls for a big celebration.

Peter Barnett and business partner Markus Stephens together with their Manageress, Gwen Partridge and staff are planning a grand weekend of fun and fund raising on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of June.

Oddest BarThe Trafford & Hulme CAMRA Pub Of The Season for Spring 2011 is Oddest on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton.

Oddest is one component of a family of three bars, Oddest which opened in summer 2009, being the first outside Manchester city centre. As part of a group of independently-run bars (Odd & Odder being the others in owner Cleo Farman's portfolio), each with its own identity within an ethos of quality products, good service and recognised drinks, Oddest still stands out.

Timperley Taverners retains Club Of The Year title

The Timperley Taverners Club on Park Road, Timperley has retained their title as Club of the Year 2011.  The Club will now go forward in to the Regional competition which will be announced later on this year.

Originally a tennis club in the 1960’s the current building on the site was built in 1981 to replace the wooden hut, by the Liberal Democrats as their Head Quarters for the area.  In 1985 a further extension was added to give a large function room.

Marble Beer House – Pub Of The Year 2011

Marble Beer HouseTrafford & Hulme branch have voted Chorlton's Marble Beer House as Pub Of The Year for 2011. The Marble Brewery pub has been a favourite pub of drinkers across the area since it opened back in 1998, a trendsetter for the raft of independent pubs & bars that now dominate the character of the area.
